A day at the beach, but not on the coast! :)

Only just under one hours drive from London, you can get the proper beech feel, without actually being on the seaside.

Imagine driving into the deepest depths of the Surrey countryside and stumbling across a beach scene with people sunbathing on warm sand, swimming in calm waters and playing with beach balls and bucket and spades.
Frensham Great Pond in Farnham has a beautiful sandy beach which is a great draw on summer's days.

To be honest, I prefer this from the actual seaside, as there is no coastal fog or wind, and it is much closer to London :)

Whether you want to relax on the sand or take a tranquil stroll and discover the wildlife, Frensham Common and Ponds is an educational and fun day out for all ages throughout the year.

The weather was absolutely stunning, a perfect day to hit the beach! But be sure to get there early to get the best spot on the beach. It is very popular when the sun is shining!

You can explore the common by using its network of footpaths and bridleways, including a circular loop around the pond. The loop took us around an hour, walking slowly, stopping to enjoy the scenery and exploring the woodland as we walked.

Geese, swans and ducks were walking about everywhere, and there were also a few awfully cute ducklings and goslings there :)

It is probably best to avoid walking the complete loop if you have pushchairs, as it would be very difficult to navigate through the sand at some places.

View of the beach from the opposite side of the pond.

Parking costs £3 for the whole day, and there is also a cafeteria, but I recommend bringing your own food unless you fancy average fast food (burgers and hot dogs). But they do sell ice cream for the kids.
We had an absolutely lovely day, and will definitely be going back as soon as the opportunity rises.

I would highly recommend it!!
